The John G. Merna Scholarship
The John G. Merna Scholarship is a $500 award, made annually to one law student enrolled full or part time at a law school in the Hampton Roads area. Students may apply in their first, second, or third year (part time students may apply in their fourth year). The scholarship is awarded by the Merna Law Group based on merit and a demonstrated interest in consumer law (including, but not limited to, bankruptcy, wills, trusts, and family law). The application deadline is June 1.
Applicants will submit a cover letter explaining why they are interested in consumer law, why they want to be a lawyer, and their vision of what an ideal consumer law firm would look like. The cover letter should not exceed three pages in length.
Applicants will also submit a current resume.
Along with the cover letter and resume, applicants will fill out the following form:
